New bill may allow students to work as teacher’s assistants. According to Mariam Jashi, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Culture, the legislative initiative will be presented to the Parliament in the Autumn session and if approved, students will start working at schools in Spring. The internship will last for 2 years.
According to Jashi, the issue of payment has yet to be discussed. At the expense of the school budget, assistant students may be able to have a small income.
Students will be able to participate in the planning, administrative or educational process and will be able to get involved in practical activities.
According to the draft law, students of any profession will be able to work in the elementary classes, while in the higher classes they will have to work in special directions. In order for students to participate in the program, they must have completed studies of 180 credits. The bill is expected to be submitted to Parliament in November.
