''The Managers of the APM Terminals will address the Economic Ministry on the implementation of a new project and deepening the port,'' Director General of APM Terminals Poti Keld Mosgaard Christensen said today.
According to him, the new quays will fully meet the freight turnover for the following 10 – 12 years.
Christensen met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia in the Swiss town of Davos.
According to Christensen, the first phase of the project includes the installation of the bulk cargo terminal, while an additional 300-meter container quay will be created in the second phase.
''As for the bulk cargo, initially, we will have three types of it: scrap metals from the entire region, fertilizers and crops from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan,'' he said, adding that a Pace group also operates in the port where employees process bulk cargos, coal, and fertilizers.
According to Christensen, in case the implementation of the Anaklia Port, the free competition will be ensured.
The APM Terminals Poti does not plan to invest in the Anaklia project
