Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maia Tskitishvili stated after the extraordinary meeting of the government that they are starting to expand one terminal only with the help of The U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) rather than deep water port.
“The public was informed a few months ago that OPIC decided to invest $50 million in this project. As far as I’m concerned, the entire project costs slightly more than 100 million USD, and it cannot be an alternative project of Anaklia deep-water port project,” stated Tskitishvili and added that the government’s approach to the Anaklia deep-water port project has remained unchanged.
