According to the updated the National Statistics Office of Georgia data, in the third quarter of 2021, the average monthly nominal salary in Georgia increased by 10.4 percent (GEL 129.0) compared to the same period last year and amounted to GEL 1 368.5. At the same time, in the third quarter of 2021, the average salary of women was set at GEL 1 106.4, and for men - GEL 1 612.1. The annual salary increase was GEL 128.2 (13.1%) for women and GEL 139.6 (9.5%) for men. According to the types of activities, the salary of men in almost all sectors exceeded the salary of women.
In the third quarter of 2021, the average monthly salary of employees in the business sector increased by GEL 149.7 (11.5%) to GEL 1,455.5. The highest salaries were recorded in the fields of arts, entertainment, and leisure (GEL 2,336.2, an increase of 60.4 percent), as well as professional, scientific, and technical activities (GEL 2,265.0, an increase of 3.5 percent).
In addition, in the third quarter of 2021, the non-profit and financial sectors' average monthly salary increased by 89.1 (7.9%) compared to the same period last year and amounted to GEL 1,219.9. Employees in financial and insurance activities have a relatively high average salary.
