Georgia's National Statistics Office has published data on the study of butcheries, elevators, and refrigeration plants in Georgia.
The study shows that in 2019, a total of 109 refrigeration plants operated in Georgia, with most of the plants in the Shida Kartli region (50.5%).
Georgian regions of Kvemo Kartli (11.0%), Kakheti (10.1%), capital Tbilisi (9.2%), Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti (8.3%), Imereti (5.5%), Mtskheta – Mtianeti (2.8%), Guria (1.8%) and Samtskhe – Javakheti (0.9%) still has refrigeration plans..
A total of 516 clients received the service in 2019. The number of entrepreneurs and resellers equaled 359 GEL, and the average monthly amount of refrigeration plants' employees reached 994 people.
232.4 thousand tonnes of products were kept in the refrigerators in 2019. Chicken included 61.3%.
Cattle meat and meat products were 18.7%, 9.0% - fruit and vegetables, 6.8% - fish, 2.1% - dairy and the rest products – 2.1%.
Refrigeration plants purchased 19.2 thousand tonnes of product in 2019 for its further sale.
