The Caspian Policy Center (CPC) has conducted a discussion among experts on the significance of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) project. Specialists elaborated upon the future developmental prospects of energy infrastructure and regional integration.

Chief Executive Officer of the CPC, Fagan Nifty, defined the SGC completion date as favorable since, in his words, the energy market and climate will have been changed by then.

At the meeting, they stressed that the completion of the $40 mln SGC project was a milestone in U.S. diplomacy, and the project proved possible to be implemented thanks to coordinated cooperation among the heads of Southeast Europe and the South Caucasus.

Robert F. Cekuta, Energy and Economy Program Chairperson at the CPC, said that the SGC is a product of long and successful cooperation among the government leaders and public servants, diplomats, corporate leaders, and experts.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S. Elin Suleymanov, Albanian Ambassador to the U.S. Floreta Faber, Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. Davit Bakradze, and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Turkish Embassy Sinan Ertay made speeches at the discussion.

"Transport corridors are new opportunities for cooperation with our neighbors, including Armenia, to ensure everyone's sovereignty, sustainable development, and integration in the region," Elin Suleymanov declared.

Elshad Nassirov, SOCAR vice-president on investments and marketing, focused on the expansion potential of the SGC and expressed hope that the company will also enter the Western Balkan countries' market.
