The SOCAR will provide diesel fuel to farmers at a discount rate. Farmers will no longer be obliged to present the corresponding documents at gas stations; they will use an electronic application instead.
Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili defined the 2020 Agro-Diesel State Program with the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum as successful. A total of 125 thousand farmers enjoyed more than GEL 7 mln benefits after the involvement in the program. The ministry plans to cooperate with the SOCAR this year too.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum signed a memorandum that allows farmers to get fuel at a reduced rate.
Registration for the program will start on 1 February, with discount cards being gradually activated from 7 February.
The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, and the Director of SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, Levan Giorgadze. Mahir Mammedov, the General Director of SOCAR Energy Georgia, and Faig Guliyev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, were present at the event.
Natural and legal persons owning at least 0.25 hectares of agricultural land registered at the National Agency of Public Registry will still be entitled to receive agro-diesel at a reduced price.
The program provides farmers with fuel discount cards (150 liters of fuel on 1 hectare of land and a maximum of 15,000 liters for more than 100 hectares of agricultural land).
The company itself says that the agro-diesel program has lived up to its expectations. It offers farmers preferential conditions without using state financial resources.
Georgian Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili said that after the SOCAR put the best conditions on the table in an open competition by the ministry, and they decided to involve the company in the program afterward.
