Georgia had a tangerine harvest of exceptionally high quality in 2019.

The harvest has exceeded 50,000 tonnes while the export hit 31,000 tonnes in Jan-Sep 2019.

The rate exceeds the 2018 indicator with 5%.

As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Georgia exported 20,000 tonnes of citrus to Russia, while the volume exported to other countries is as it follows:

Ukraine – 5.200 tonnes

Armenia – 4.400 tonnes

Belarus - 319 tonnes

Kazakhstan – 140 tonnes

Kyrgyzstan – 58 tonnes.

Slovenia, Moldova, Lithuania, Poland, Qatar, and Singapore are the new ones in the list of countries receiving exported tangerine.

The market price of the product was high due to its high quality. The wholesale cost of the tangerine teetered from 0.5 to 2.0 GEL.

As reported by the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture, the high quality of the product is a result of efficient and large-scale measures against stink bugs.
