Kakha Koniashvili the Head of the business community, says that the primary milk production is completely beyond the control which gives dishonest entrepreneurs the chance to save money by selling low-quality products at low price, creating non-competitive market environment.
According to him there is no control scheme hence the customers are offered poor quality products, and entrepreneurs avoid taxes. According to the Association, the volume of unregistered products turnover exceeds billions of GEL annually. Business community states that this is a tax avoidance scheme that is out of control and results in money loss from the budget.
“We are not asking to close this sort of enterprises. On the contrary, the quality will improve when there is competition among more entrepreneurs in the dairy industry. This will become possible if everyone plays by the same rules. Today, unfortunately, this is not the case in the dairy market”, said Kakha Koniashvili the Head of the Producers Association.
The inspection of the production process is planned from 2020. Our agency was informed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. According to the agency, the Ministry will follow the EU directives.
