According to the information of Georgian National Communication Commission the mobile internet traffic has increased by 38% and reaches 18.5 thousand terabytes by second quarter this year.Average consumption of internet per person is 2.5 Gb.Average price per 500 Mb mobile internet in Georgia is 2.91 euro which is among the best prices in the world as stated by the Georgian National Communication Regulatory Commission.
According to Kakha Bekauri, the Head of the Commission, the cost reduction became possible as a result of new technology introduction which is reflected on the price.There is one more challenge that the Commission is planning in 2019 – introduction of virtual operators in the market.
Bekauri said the biggest challenge for 2019 will be the finalization of the strategy for the implementation of the (5G) generation mobile internet in the market.The work on the strategy development started in previous year. According to Bekauri, the whole world is working on the introduction of 5G technology and Georgia has the ambition to do it.Georgia has always been in the Avant guard in the issues of new technologies implementation”, said Bekauri.
