The government of Azerbaijan allocated 164 million USD to neutralize the effects of COVID-19, CEO of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, Vusal Gasimli said.

In his words, the main priorities of the Azerbaijani economic policy will be construction, mining, and petrochemical industries, as well as the digital economy, transport, trade, logistics, telecommunications, domestic tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Vasil Gasimli said that the government would spend 57 million USD on preventive measures.

In his words, through the creation of 50,000 paid public jobs, people who lost jobs will be provided with temporary employment.

A total of 200,000 unemployed people will receive temporary assistance of 111 USD for two months.

As Vusal Gasimli says, the Azerbaijani government is doing everything to prevent the dismissal of 1,574,000 private and public sector employees, planning to preserve their salaries on vacation.

He says the self-employment program includes 11,000 people.

About 20,000 people will receive unemployment insurance benefits.

The limit of preferential monthly electricity consumption for the country's population will increase to 100 kilowatts per hour in April and May.

Besides, the Azerbaijani government will spend 23 million USD on the education of students from socially vulnerable groups.
