In January 2021, Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines transported 3.549 billion cubic meters of gas, the country's State Statistics Committee reports. According to the committee, this figure is 12.2% more compared to the same period of 2020.

The natural gas extracted from the Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan is supplied to Turkey via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) and TANAP. The first gas through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline entered the Turkish market in 2007. Commercial gas supply to Turkey through TANAP started on June 30, 2018.

The Southern Gas Corridor will expand and, it may also serve the Balkan region. After expansion, the total capacity of TAP will be 20 billion, and the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) - 31 billion. In total, the capacity of the South Caucasus pipeline will reach 30 billion cubic meters after expansion.
