As part of the development of the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea, the construction of the pipeline will start in the spring of 2022. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Fatih Dönmez, announced the information.

According to the Anadolu news agency, the engineering and design work for the development of the field has been completed, and the pipes have been ordered.

On August 21, 2020, the President of Turkey announced the discovery of a large natural gas field in the Black Sea. According to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the country will start producing gas in the Black Sea by 2023. The volume of gas reserves in the "Danube-1" section of the Sakarya field amounted to 405 billion cubic meters.
