With the support of the U.S. government, the transport corridor of Georgia is being digitized. Deputy  Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze said this in his statement at the Connecting Eurasia: Smart Ports and Rail Forum. A virtual forum organized by the United States Department of Commerce and the U.S. Embassies in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey has been held today. The parties discussed the opportunities to employ modern technology in the marine and railway sectors.

Genadi Arveladze, who made a speech at the forum on behalf of Georgia, laid emphasis on digital technology in ensuring safe, reliable, and effective transport operations. He focused on the steps taken to implement a Single Window principle in the ports of Georgia and digitize the transport corridor.

''We are implementing this project with the support of the U.S. government. In our view, the project will attract more vessels to the Georgian ports, and the development of port services will result in new job opportunities, which is paramount, especially in the post-COVID era,'' Mr. Arveladze said.

Genadi Arveladze also made reference to the current and planned infrastructural projects, which are of regional scale. Additionally, he focused on the role played by American investors in developing the country's port infrastructure.
