US Ambassador shows interest in Georgian hazelnuts

US Ambassador Kely Degnan has visited a hazelnut processing enterprise with Georgian Agricultural Minister Levan Davitashvili in Lagodekhi, Kakheti region of Georgia.

The new enterprise was established with support from the Georgian government and USAID project G-HIP.

Minister Levan Davitashvili says that the project will continue next year, as the Lagodekhi enterprise is of utmost importance.

Ambassador Kely Degnan stated that the new enterprise would support the market diversification.

''The US and USAID are proud of conducting the project with the Georgian partner,'' Degnan said.

More than 250,000 USD was invested in the enterprise. It can dry 1,000 tonnes of hazelnuts annually.
