Foreign visitors spent GEL 7.9 billion in Georgia in 2018. Most of their spendings come from food and drinks.
TBC Capital's Tourism Sector Survey shows that food and beverage spendings by foreign visitors in Georgia has been rising since 2015. As for this year's numbers, in the first half of 2019 foreign visitors spent 25% of their spendings on food and beverages, compared to 28% in the first half of 2018.
Research shows a downward trend in the shopping area. Foreign visitors spent 28% of their spendings for shopping in 2015, 24% in 2016, 21% in 2017, and 20% in 2018. In the first half of 2019, the share of shopping is 19%, which is 3% less than in the same period of 2018.
