As the National Statistics Office of Georgia reports, in January – April 2020, three economic sectors are leading by the number of employees in Georgia, specifically, trade in the business sector (wholesale and retail trade; car and motorcycle repair), process industries, as well as healthcare and social services. The shares are as follows: 27.4%, 12.4% and 10.5%, respectively.

The construction sector has 8.6% of the total number of employees, while transport and warehousing accounted for 8.3%, and the placement and supply of food - 5.6%.

In the first quarter of 2020, trade occupies the largest share in the total turnover of the Georgian business sector (37.6%). Art, entertainment, and recreation (27.8%) rank second, followed by the processing industry (8.9%), construction (5.8%), transport and storage (5.4%), the supply of electricity, gas, steam and condensed air (4%).

As for the number of employees by region, Tbilisi is leading with 64.0% of the total number of employees, followed by Adjara - 10.0%, Imereti - 6.9%, Kvemo-Kartli - 5.6%, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 4.0%.
