"We have an impressive economic reform agenda; the World Bank is pleased to support the Georgian government in this regard," Sebastian Molineus, the World Bank (WB) Regional Director for the South Caucasus, made this statement after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili.

The main issues to be discussed at the meeting between the Prime Minister and the World Bank Regional Director were the successful cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank, the World Bank's support for Georgia during the pandemic, and ongoing and planned projects.

Sebastian Molineus congratulated Irakli Gharibashvili on his appointment on the post of Prime Minister and wished him success.

The meeting focused on the assistance provided by the World Bank in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister thanked the World Bank Regional Director for responding immediately to Georgia's needs during COVID-19.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government of Georgia appreciates the World Bank activities in various sectors of the economy, especially the allocation of funds for the financing of a number of projects, which total more than 2.7 billion USD.

During the meeting, the parties talked about ongoing projects. Irakli Gharibashvili noted that the World Bank initiative to finance road projects, energy and agriculture sectors, regional and municipal development is crucial for the country. According to the Prime Minister, the Georgian government appreciates the current portfolio of the World Bank, which consists of 12 active investment and development projects totaling $ 928 million.
