General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia confirmed the information on charging Irakli Tsereteli, former procurator of Didube-Chugureti district, on Buta Robakidze case. He is accused in power abuse.

The information on charging was primarily shared with journalists by Soso Robakidze, the father of killed Buta Robakidze.

The Buta Robakidze case was announced open by Prosecutor’s in 2012. As a result of the later investigation it was identified that 19-year-old Buta Robakidze was killed by a gun-shot accomplished by a law-enforcer Giorgi Bashaleishvili. Buta Robakidze was killed in Ak.Tsereteli street of Tbilisi on November 24, 2004.

The expertise showed that the video materials were montaged detecting 36 break-downs. Guram Donadze was named one of the possible suspects of the montage.

In 2018 Tbilisi City Court Judge Davit Mgeliashvili recognized 5 persons guilty in the murder of Buta Robakidze. These were Guram Donadze, Zurab Mikadze, Irakli Pirtskhalava, Davit Iashvili and Zaza Bakradze. Only one of them – Zaza Bakradze pleaded guilty.

Zaza Bakradze was conditionally sentenced for 4 years and 6 months, a 5000 GEL fine and was professionally disqualified for 2 years.

Guram Donadze was sentenced for 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment and 2 years and 3 months of disqualification.

Davit Iashvili – 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment and 2 years and 3 months of disqualification.
