The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has released a statement regarding the horrific incident in Samegrelo, during which a father and son were arrested for raping an 8-year-old girl.
According to the agency, the detainees abused the juvenile several times during the year.
The investigation established that one of the detainees, Z.G., violently committed another sexual act with another minor, a 9-year-old girl, on January 21, 2018.
The arrested father and son threatened to kill the children if they told anyone about the incident.
"B.G. and Z.G. were charged with rape of a minor.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that from 2020 to June 21, 2021, B.G. and Z.G., using her helplessness and age of the victim, an 8-year-old girl was raped several times.
The charge against both persons is punishable by fifteen to twenty years or life imprisonment. The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia is pursuing a strict criminal policy on such cases, which will continue in the future," the statement said.
