Court decision in the case of DJ Michailo known

The trial of musician Michailo Todua has recently ended in Tbilisi City Court.

The court did not return the DJ to prison but partially granted the probation bureau's request and extended his house arrest by 2 hours.

Until now, Michailo should have been at home from 21:00 to 08:00; now, he will stay in house arrest from 19:00 to 8:00.

In parallel with the hearing, a rally in support of musician Michailo Todua took place at the Tbilisi City Court today. The protesters were against the possible imprisonment of the musician.

The musician links the probation bureau's request with political motives and connects it with the performance at the Girchi event.

Todua was arrested in September 2013 for 12 grams of MDMA and sentenced to 9 years in prison. Despite offering a plea agreement, he was serving a prison sentence for not having GEL 20 000. During his time in prison, Todua continued to work and released several music albums.

After six years in prison, the musician left the prison on October 11, 2019.

He applied to the Special Penitentiary Service's local council after serving the relevant term of his imprisonment and requested that the remaining sentence be commuted to a lighter sentence, house arrest. According to the house arrest rules, he is obliged to be at home at 21:00 and regularly wear an electric bracelet.
