A young man, who has reportedly beaten his own mother, has been declared not guilty by the Batumi City Court, with the judge having rendered a not guilty verdict after the mother refused to testify against her son and kept her silence. According to the judge, no evidence proving domestic violence exists in the case.
However, the prosecution claims that the defendant physically abused his mother twice.
Additionally, the defendant was charged with the crime of vandalism. The man had reportedly fired shots at the door of a house and the shop window glass near the house. He was declared guilty on this count and sentenced to one year and six months in prison. Since he was on probation before perpetrating the crime, the judge imposed 3,000 GEL fine on him.
