Eleven people arrested in the case of football player Giorgi Shakarashvili remain in custody. The Mtskheta District Court announced the decision recently.

Today court discussed the revision of the measure of restraint against 11 people detained in Shakarashvili's case.

Attorneys have filed a motion to release the defendant on bail. The motion of the prosecutor's office was to keep the accused in custody.

At today's trial, only Irakli Tsakadze pleaded guilty partially.

The juvenile case got separated from the 17 detainees, and the trial is scheduled for July 31.

Giorgi Shakarashvili's family notified the police of his missing on June 19, with the police starting search and rescue operations immediately.

After four days of non-stop efforts, divers found young Shakarashvili's body in the river Aragvi.

The investigation was launched, with the sportsmen involved in the case being already questioned.

The MIA detained 17 people over the young footballer's death. They face the charges of group violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, and subjecting two or more individuals to physical abuse.

On July 10, the Prosecutor General's Office released an expert report stating that Giorgi Shakarashvili's cause of death was asphyxiation by drowning.

The report also states that bodily injuries have been inflicted in his lifetime.

The investigation into the death of Giorgi Shakarashvili continues under the article of premeditated murder committed under aggravated circumstances.
