Former Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili's son-in-law, Mindia Gogochuri, has been sentenced to four years in jail.

He was accused of illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms, violence, resisting police officers, and unlawful purchase and possession of large quantities of narcotic drugs; Ozurgeti District Court has delivered this verdict.

As stated in the prosecutor's office, on July 18, 2020, at the Paragraph hotel in the Shekvetili village of the Ozurgeti municipality, Gogochuri and the hotel's guest, identified as G.B., had a dispute.

"M.G, holding illegal firearms, physically dealt with G.B. and fled the scene," the prosecutor's office said.

On July 19, 2020, police detained M.G. in Batumi. During the arrest of M.G. resisted, and one of the police officers was injured.

During a personal search operation, 0.648 grams of Heroin was seized.
