The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced five defendants to two-month pre-trial detention for attacking journalists.
The judge rejected the motion to release the defendants after they posted GEL 2 and 3 thousand bails.
Five people were apprehended yesterday for preventing representatives of different media outlets from performing their duties and subjecting them to violence.
Four other offenders received jail sentences for assaulting the Mtavari Arkhi and TV Pirveli camera crew on July 5.
Tsotne Chikladze, Bakar Maisuradze, Mukhran Dadvani, Tornike Gabliani, and Otar Gelashvili reportedly assaulted representatives of various media outlets, interfering with their activities.
