Former employees win legal case against Iberia TV Company

Former employees of the Imedi TV Company have once again won a legal case against the founders of the company. Tbilisi Court of Appeals has refused to either change the verdict by the court of first instance or reconsider the case. The court ruling as per which the founders have to pay a compensation to their former employees has remained in force.

Iberia TV Company staff members learned about the closure of the company on Oct 16, 2018, and later were handed over orders of dismissal. Despite the Labour Code obligating employers to pay 2-month compensations to employees in similar cases, the company refused to fulfill this obligation.

The founders of the Imedi TV Company Nato Chkheidze and Zaza Okruashvili are owners of huge property, with the assessed value of the former's property exceeding 50 million.
