Four people accused of violence against journalists sentenced to imprisonment

Four persons arrested on charges of verbally and physically abusing a journalist and cameraman of TV Pirveli, as well as a cameraman of Mtavari Channel, Akaki Nakashidze, Tornike Davlasheridze, Ilia Kebadze, and Temur Kharauli, were sentenced to imprisonment as a measure of restraint.

Judge Roman Khorava announced the decision at the Tbilisi City Court. He condemned the events of July 5 and noted that the decision was made on behalf of Georgia.

On July 5, on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, radical groups opposing the Tbilisi Pride Week attacked journalists.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on July 5, 55 people became victims of violence, including 53 members of the media.

Radical groups also attacked media representatives on July 6.
