Gigi Ugulava, a member of the European Georgian party, has defined the Supreme Court ruling as politically motivated.
"This is just an unfair and politically motivated verdict delivered by Ivanishvili and declared by judges who have not even familiarized themselves with the case. The path followed by the opposition intimidates Ivanishvili, which is why we are now faced with mass incarcerations and political persecution. If the path to freedom is through jail, I am ready then," Gigi Ugulava declared, adding that he will himself go to any particular prison they will direct him to.
"I will go to jail myself; be more careful with your budget. I have already packed my suitcases," Mr. Ugulava said.
The Supreme Court has sentenced Gigi Ugulava to three years and two months in prison.
