The Tbilisi City Court fully shared the evidence presented by the prosecution and found the accused guilty of violence, torture, and threats on the grounds of gender intolerance, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia spreads information.
According to the evidence examined by the prosecution at the trial, on February 24, 2021, the accused, in his own home, on the grounds that his wife allegedly had no right to have male friends, to correspond with them, and to dispose of her own funds independently, tortured her on the grounds of gender intolerance.
In order to admit the fact of betrayal, the accused physically abused, beat, and tortured his wife for 4-5 hours. After the torture, the accused took the victim to the parents' house, where he physically assaulted his wife's brother, father, and by demonstrating and firing a gun, threatening the victim's family members with death.
Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on February 25, 2021, at the scene.
The Tbilisi City Court fully shared the evidence presented by the prosecutor's office and sentenced the accused to 9 years in prison.
