The trial of Irakli Okruashvili, the former Minister of Defense and leader of Victorious Georgia, will take place at Tbilisi City Court today regarding the June 20 case.
The trial scheduled for 11:00.
Vakhtang Iashvili, the human rights defender, told report.ge, that Irakli Okruashvili will probably not attend today's trial.
According to the lawyer, the political persecution of his client continues, and Okruashvili is Bidzina Ivanishvili's political prisoner.
"The prosecution represents police officers as witnesses, who were not in contact with Okruashvili; we will question them. Ivanishvili promised Okruashvili that upon his arrival in Georgia, he would arrest Okruashvili, and he did as he promised," Vakhtang Iashvili said.
Irakli Okruashvili has been detained in connection with the events of June 20-21. The investigation has charged him under Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving the organization, direction, or participation in mass violence.
