Jurors are set to discuss the case of policeman Vano Zandarashvili, accused of murdering Telavi hospital director Zurab Sachishvili.

The decision was made today, with the defendant and defense lawyers submitting the request. 

The accused policeman refused to share his position at the trial.

The juror selection session was scheduled for 3 p.m., April 15.

Background

On December 25, 2020, policeman Vano Zandarashvili and Telavi hospital director Zurab Sachishvili were involved in a verbal altercation in the center of Ikalto village, Telavi, Georgia. After the incident, Zandarashvili shot Sachishvili at point-blank range multiple times. He died on the spot.

Telavi City Hall high-ranking official was also wounded in the incident.

Policeman Zandarashvili will be sentenced from 7 to 15 years if proven guilty.
