Officers of the Sagarejo District Division of the Kakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained one person in the village of Lambalo, Sagarejo Municipality.
According to the agency, M.S., born in 1979, is accused of illegally purchasing and storing firearms and ammunition.
"The offense carries a maximum sentence of three to six years in prison.
During a search of the detainee's home, police seized Kalashnikov rifles, AK-74 assault rifles, cartridge clip, and 30 rounds of ammunition.
The investigation into the illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition is underway under the third part of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
