Late footballer Shakarashvili's case: Detainee partly pleaded guilty

Nika Zhvania, the rugby player detained over footballer Giorgi Shakarashvili's case, has partially pleaded guilty; However, he wants to have the original charges lessened. 

Nika Zhvania's lawyer said that he confessed to taking part in the physical altercation and using a baton while beating the boys. 

Giorgi Shakarashvili's family notified the police of his missing on 19 June, with the police starting search and rescue operations immediately.

After four days of non-stop efforts, divers found young Shakarashvili's body in the river Aragvi. The opinion publicized by the Prosecutor's Office reads that the cause of the footballers death is asphyxia by drowning in the water. His injuries were inflicted upon him while he was still alive, according to the opinion.  

The MIA detained 17 people over the young footballer's death. They are facing the charges of group violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, and subjecting two or more individuals to physical abuse.

The investigation is underway, with offenders facing charges of murder under aggravated circumstances.
