Jemal Nachkhebia, detained over the murder of a 39-year-old man, has been sentenced to imprisonment in the village of Taleri, the Martvili region. The Zugdidi Regional Court has fully approved the prosecutor's motion and sent the offender to jail.
The defendant said that he killed the man in self-defense.
"They came to my place on Christmas Eve. The table was set; he drank a little bit and started to meddle in my family's affairs by asking why I live abroad when my wife is here alone. We argued about this, and he left but returned later. Mother asked him to go home, but he pushed her and used foul language. Then he called me. I was upset and did not even know what I was holding in my hands. I just wanted to scare him and threatened that I would kill him if he refused to leave. He grabbed me by the throat, and I hit him, but do not remember where and how many times," the defendant said.
Nachkhebia killed the 39-year-old man in his own house with a kitchen knife. He was detained shortly after the crime was committed.
