"The investigation showed that on November 6, 2020, the accused met with the chairman of the district election commission No. 5, Teodore Gobejishvili, and offered, on behalf of one of the political parties, in exchange for $50,000, in the presence of the press, to defiantly leave their post and make a statement that the elections were allegedly falsified.

In exchange, he was promised to receive more significant benefits,"- this is stated in the official statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which is related to the case of the death of Tedo Gobejishvili.

As part of this investigation, in Tbilisi, on charges of threats, coercion, and offering a bribe to an official, law enforcement officers detained two persons born in 1975: Akaki Khuskivadze and Akaki Kobaladze.

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports, after the defendants received a refusal from Gobejishvili, they threatened him with reprisals and began to force him to agree to their proposal.

"On the second day after meeting with the accused, on November 7, 2020, Teodore Gobejishvili born in 1977, died in his apartment," the Georgian Interior Ministry says.

The investigation is underway.
