Founder of Mtavari Arkhi (Main Channel), Nika Gvaramia, says that Mikheil Saakashvili has been detained in Tbilisi.

''Saakashvili knew perfectly well that his plane could not have landed here; they would not have let it happen. He arrived here as he could,'' Nika Gvaramia said.

In Gvaramia's words, the former president has been transferred to Rustavi prison.

An UNM member, Eka Kherkheulidze, also confirmed the news.

''Calm down, friends! They are confused; representatives of the regime, which is under unbearable pressure, have been searching for Mikheil Saakashvili for four days. Today, they have repeatedly denied that he was even in Georgia,'' Eka Kherkheulidze said.

Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said at the briefing in the Administration of the Government of Georgia that Mikheil Saakashvili had been detained.
