Nika Gvaramia's trial resumed in City Court

The hearing of the criminal case of Nika Gvaramia, Kakhaber Damenia, and Zurab Iashvili has been resumed in the Tbilisi City Court.

According to the prosecutor in the case, the court hearings were postponed due to the coronavirus-related pandemic. However, the court has a reservation to issue a verdict within two years, and today's hearing will be technical, where the next proceedings will be scheduled in time.

According to Zviad Gubeladze, the prosecution expects the court to pass a guilty verdict against all three defendants.

Nika Gvaramia's lawyer, Dimitri Sadzaglishvili, said that they would petition for the inclusion of evidence at the hearing.

Sadzaglishvili thinks that the resumption of Nika Gvaramia's trial indicates political persecution against him.

The previous court scheduled the trial for December 1, and it was supposed to be held on December 7, but the next day got postponed. On January 20, it became known that Nika Gvaramia's trial was scheduled for February 2.
