The case of Nika Melia, the chairperson of the United National Movement, is being considered in the Tbilisi City Court. The accused himself is attending the hearing. It is expected that the issue of reviewing his preventive measure will be discussed at the hearing.
Oppositionists Gigi Ugulava, Koba Nakopia, Kakha Kukava, Anzor Bitsadze, Davit Berdzenishvili, Eka Kherkheulidze, Akaki Bobokhidze are also present at the trial.
Nika Melia's supporters, civil activists, and representatives of opposition parties are present in the court.
The substantive hearing of Nika Melia's case was supposed to start on April 8 but got postponed. The reason is the motion of the defense. The judge granted Nika Melia's motion to attend the trial, but since Melia was not allowed to attend the trial before and was not present at the hearing that day, it got postponed until April 13.
