The High Council of Justice of Georgia has appointed Nikoloz Marsagishvili as chairperson of Tbilisi City Court.
Marsagishvili was interviewed today in the Council of Justice of Georgia, with the other candidate for the position being Sergo Metopishvili, member of High Council of Justice. The latter demanded recusal of non-judge member of the High Council of Justice Nazi Janezashvili. His demand was unanimously approved, and the non-judge member was not given the opportunity to ask him questions.
Nikoloz Marsagishvili graduated from Tbilisi State University in 1997, the faculty of law. From 1999 to 2008, he worked in prosecutor's offices in different regions. In 2008-2017, he served as judge at Gori Regional Court. In the same year, he took on duties of chairperson of the Gori Regional Court and in 11 May 2017, he was appointed as judge at The Criminal Cases Panel of the Gori Regional Court.
