Nodar Meladze, the head of the news service of TV Pirveli, has been summoned to the prosecutor's office today regarding the case of audio recordings.
He requested an interrogation in the presence of a magistrate judge.
According to Meladze, he will not provide any information about the source to the investigative agencies.
"I will be at the prosecutor's office. The time for orientation is set at 11:00, but it may change based on communication between lawyer and prosecutor. I will not name the source, even if the source is my biggest enemy. I have a professional obligation not to name the source and not to provide the investigative agency with any material that will help them identify the source," Meladze said.
On March 6, TV Pirveli published an alleged telephone recording of Bera Ivanishvili, Irakli Gharibashvili, and Anzor Chubinidze, where Bidzina Ivanishvili's son asked Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and the head of the Special State Protection Service, Anzor Chubinidze, for retaliation against certain individuals because of the Facebook comments.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the case of secret recordings. The judge granted the motion of the prosecutor's office and permitted the removal of the materials from "TV Pirveli".
