The officers of Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department detained V.M., born in 1990, on charges of large-scale fraud based on a judge's decision as a result of operative and investigative actions. The Ministry of Internal Affairs spreads information about the case.
According to the agency, the investigation is underway under Article 180, Part 2, Subparagraph "a" and Part 3, Subparagraph "b" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies large-scale fraud committed by a group.
"The investigation established that G.R., born in 1991, on October 25 of this year, on the basis of a verbal agreement, handed over his own Toyota Prius model car to the accused V.M. and T.B., born in 1987 after which the mentioned persons removed various parts of the car and put them into the possession of multiple people.
Police, as a result of complex investigative actions, arrested V.M. on January 4 this year. Law enforcers detained T.B., born in 1987 on November 20, 2020, in Tbilisi.
The police found the car in pieces on Kvareli Street in Tbilisi and seized it as evidence.
The ongoing investigation also revealed that T.B. and V.M. had followed the same scheme for vehicles belonging to other citizens. The investigation seized five cars. Investigative actions are underway to determine the location of the other cars and seize them as evidence," the agency said in a statement.
The offense carries a maximum sentence of 6 to 9 years in prison.
