The Prosecutor's Office has arrested the Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. He is accused of misappropriating a large amount of money belonging to the Rural Development Agency and making/using forged documents. The accused was sentenced to imprisonment as a measure of restraint.
"Co-financing agreement was signed between" Rural Development Agency and "Meder" Ltd. within the framework of the state targeted program "Implement the Future," on the basis of which, for the purchase of blueberry seedlings by the "Rural Development Agency" on the bank account of "Meder" Ltd. GEL 116 460 was transferred.
The current head of the Programs and Services Agency of the Ministry of Finance and Sectoral Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia submitted a fake payment order made by him. In fact, out of GEL 116 460, the defendant transferred two tranches of GEL 84 000 to the account of a private entrepreneur of the Programs and Services Agency Ltd. with the intention of misappropriation and withdrew GEL 29 200 from the bank account.
The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 7 to 11 years," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
