"An investigation has been launched based on publicly disclosed secret records at the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia," the statement issued by the Prosecutor's Office reports.
"An investigation has been launched into the facts of an unauthorized recording of private conversation and/or wiretapping, as well as the recording of private communication, illegal use and dissemination of information obtained through technical means, under Article 158, Parts 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the case, all necessary investigative and procedural actions will be taken to determine the legality of obtaining and disseminating the record. Appropriate examinations will be scheduled to determine the authenticity of the leaked records.
The results of the investigation will be made public," the statement said.
