Officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia have detained one person for taking a bribe, State Security Service reports.

"The investigation has established that the Head of the Patrol and Rapid Response Division of the Western Regional Division of the Environmental Supervision Department systematically provided protection to those involved in illegal logging using his official position, he ensured the movement of undocumented timber and in return received GEL 300 as a bribe for each transportation.

The investigation is underway under the first part of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The investigation is being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service," reads the statement.
