State Security Service releases statement on the case of secret records

The State Security Service has released a statement regarding the materials spread on the Internet regarding the wiretapping. According to the agency, the State Security Service of Georgia is ready to cooperate closely with the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia at all stages of the investigation.

"Due to the high public interest, we would like to respond to the information spread by the media in recent days.

As you know, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the violation of the secrecy of private communications under Article 158, Parts 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. It is in the agency's objective interest to conduct an investigation and answer all questions.

In addition, the State Security Service calls on the media and political stakeholders to refrain from disseminating inaccurate and unverified information until the investigation is completed. The dissemination of such information violates the honor and dignity of individuals, security officers, and the service as a whole, reduces trust in law enforcement agencies, and damages the state security system," said the statement.
