Zugdidi City Court sentenced the monk, Simon (Giga) Kavtaradze detained for the committed drug crime, the imprisonment.
The Prosecutors’ demanded imprisonment. According to the Mariam Koridze, Prosecutor, consequent from the hardness of the crime, there was a risk that the accused would escape or destroy the evidences. Though the barrister insisted that this would not happen since the monk partially recognized the crime and he had surrendered to the law enforcers on his own will.
The Zugdidi citizen, Roman Malania, and the monk, Simon (Giga Kavtaradze), were detained on December 5 for committing the drug crime.
The investigation is in the process according to Article 260, illegal production, purchase, maintenance, transportation-transfer of the drugs.
Roman Malania was released for 10 000 GEL bail.
