Today, a pre-trial hearing will take place on the case of 6 juveniles arrested in the case of the deceased football player, Giorgi Shakarashvili.
The trial is scheduled for 14:00 in Mtskheta District Court.
The hearing got postponed to the stage of admissibility of evidence at the last trial. At the same trial, the detainee's detention as a measure of restraint got reviewed and remained in force. Mtskheta District Court Judge Sophio Lezhava made the decision.
The prosecution demanded that all six detainees remanded in custody while the defense requested release on bail.
None of the arrested juveniles pleaded guilty.
Eleven people arrested in the case of football player Giorgi Shakarashvili remain in custody. The Mtskheta District Court announced the decision on July 27.
On July 28, the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia separated the cases of 11 detainees into separate proceedings. Their trial is set for August 31.
The family applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs on June 19 about the loss of Giorgi Shakarashvili.
After four days of non-stop efforts, divers found young Shakarashvili's body in the river Aragvi.
The investigation was launched, with the sportsmen involved in the case being already questioned.
The MIA detained 17 people over the young footballer's death. They face the charges of group violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, and subjecting two or more individuals to physical abuse.
On July 10, the Prosecutor General's Office released an expert report stating that Giorgi Shakarashvili's cause of death was asphyxiation by drowning.
The report also states that bodily injuries have been inflicted in his lifetime.
The investigation into the death of Giorgi Shakarashvili continues under the article of premeditated murder committed under aggravated circumstances.
