"Ivane Merabishvili convicted of the most serious crimes has no place in Georgian politics," Anri Okhanashvili, the Chairperson of the Legal Issues Committee, told reporters.
According to a member of the parliamentary majority, Merabishvili has a criminal mentality.
"Another person with criminal mentality joined a group of leaders with the same values representing the United National Movement. This person will answer to those who were the victims of systemic crimes. Georgian Dream will win while National Movement will lose in parliamentary elections," Okhanashvili said.
Vano Merabishvili, the former Minister of Internal Affairs, is free. He left the so-called Matrosov prison.
