“Blocking the state is beyond the law, and no one will be able to do it,” Archil Talakvadze, the Chairman of the Parliament, commented on the picket planned on December 11.

Asked whether the law enforcers will use water cannons or not Talakvadze said it is not up to him.

Parliamentary Majority will vote to choose the Supreme Court judge on December 11. 19 candidates are presented to the Parliament. If supported, lawmakers will have to approve the candidates at the Parliamentary session.

The session will be held amid a picket on Wednesday. The opposition is planning to gather in the morning.

Opposition, non-governmental sector and non-judge members of the High Council of Justice of Georgia are demanding the removal of the Supreme Court's list of candidates.

Public Defender demands unconstitutional recognition of the procedure for selecting Supreme Court Justice candidates. Nino Lomjaria has already appealed to the Constitutional Court of Georgia with the request.

Independent Deputy Eka Beselia says she is ready to submit a report to the committee. According to her, the report highlights the risks associated with the election of judges.
