Archil Talakvadze: We have no complaints against Azerbaijani side

"Azerbaijan has been, is, and will be our strategic partner. The investigation launched, and the alleged crime named by the prosecutor's office concerns internal affairs of the country," Archil Talakvadze, the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia said in connection with the ongoing investigation into the case of Davit Gareja.

According to the Chairperson of the Parliament, the Georgian side will try to revise the initial agreement under the new circumstances.

"Neither the investigation nor the new circumstances established within this investigation, by which we will try to continue negotiations and reach a revision of the initial agreements, will affect our friendly relations. The ongoing investigation and the alleged crime have nothing to do with the Azerbaijani side.

We must first find out what happened within this commission and why the maps published in 1945 and subsequent years were used in the delimitation-demarcation process, while the officially agreed 1938 map was better for our country's national interests and the protection of our cultural heritage. The question must be answered before we can continue the negotiations. Of course, this does not concern our bilateral relations, our strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan," Talakvadze stated.
